Jayden Finds Trust in His Counselor

Nine-year-old Jayden has attended Camp Ramapo for two summers and has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). During his first few days at camp, Jayden often refused to transition to new activities, crossing his arms and stopping in his tracks. One of his counselors, Emily, built a strong relationship with him and together they created a checklist of daily activities for Jayden to successfully complete. The reward for Jayden completing the checklist each day was sharing a bedtime story with Emily. The trust, understanding and support Jayden received helped him learn how to successfully transition from one activity to the next throughout the day.
