Casey’s Favorite Day at Camp Ramapo

Last year, Casey came to Camp Ramapo as a first year counselor. Reflecting on her experience, she described her favorite day of the summer: the day when 12-year-old Alex, who is severely autistic, independently tied his shoes for the first time. Alex’s ear-to-ear grin lasted the whole day, and everywhere he went throughout camp his friends and counselors congratulated him with cheers and high fives. Casey knew she was part of a special place after seeing Alex’s excitement and sense of accomplishment and the staff’s genuine enthusiasm and support.

Summer camp at Ramapo is an opportunity that many children from disadvantaged homes would not be able to experience without the support of people like you.
